Biography

John Cassidy carries out research over a diverse range of geological topics including volcanology, basement tectonics, Quaternary faulting, epithermal mineral deposits and groundwater structure. His speciality is in integrating different geophysical techniques to optimise their effectiveness in the investigation of geological structures and processes. Geophysical techniques employed include aeromagnetic and gravity methods, paleomagnetism, and high-resolution near-surface techniques. A new research theme being developed is the study of recent geomagnetic excursions and their potential use in dating both geological events and archaeological artifacts.
