New Zealand Cartographic Society
EduCart Initiative
Building on the success of the 2010 Workshop, the New Zealand Cartographic Society will present an exciting two-day Map Design with ArcGIS: Thematic Cartography Workshop. It will be held at the School of Environment, The University of Auckland, 27-28 August 2012.
The Workshop will focus on how users can harness Esri ArcGIS to produce high quality thematic maps. It will explore a range of desktop GIS tools to create rich thematic maps; show users how to prepare data and select appropriate thematic map types; and be cognisant of design considerations to make informative, compelling information products.
The Workshop will also consider the specific requirements for making great thematic web maps and demonstrate how to use ArcGIS online. Finally, you'll learn how to use new tools and approaches in ArcGIS 10.1 to serve your thematic map services online and create custom maps for sharing and embedding in web sites.
The main presenter is Dr Kenneth Field from Esri Inc, USA with colleagues Dr Aileen Buckley also from Esri Inc, USA, and Igor Drecki from The University of Auckland.
